Summary

Ethical issues confronting estate planning professionals are often addressed in the principles of conduct governing the various professional disciplines whose members consider themselves as estate planning professionals. Who are the professionals involved and what ethical situations must they deal with in their daily work? How are their interactions with clients and each other regulated and for what reasons? Drawing from the actual codes of professional ethics, this presentation will examine the "five c's" of ethics for estate planning professionals, which are: competence, compliance, compensation, confidentiality, and conflicts of interest/disclosure.
